Olsun has installed the new Bystronic 4kW Fiber Laser Cutting Machine with Material Loading and Unloading Automation for Sheet Metal Enclosure Fabrication. We fabricate all of the enclosures for the ventilated, encapsulated, pad mounted, substation and switch products at our facility here in Richmond, Illinois.
The advanced Computer-Aided Manufacturing software purchased with the machine creates the cutting plan for the assembled enclosure. The three-dimensional assembly model for the enclosure is uploaded by the software which determines how many of each part in the assembly is required, groups the parts by material type, unbends each part to its flat form, optimizes where to position all of the required flat parts on the full-sized metal sheets and establishes the best pattern of the laser cutting on each sheet in the cutting plan.
A custom Pallet Lifter was purchased to facilitate the material handling for pallets of metal sheets. This lifter is connected to a new overhead bridge crane which moves the pallet from the production floor to one of the two cassettes for raw material storage in the automation.
The complete installation includes Nitrogen Gas Generation System which produces the gas used for the cutting of parts from the full-sized metal sheets. No bottles or tanks are required to supply the nitrogen gas for the machine. The system generates the nitrogen gas from dry compressed air and boosts the gas pressure to the requirements of the machine.
The operator selects at the user interface monitor the specific cutting plan to run on the machine. The metal sheets are processed by the machine in the sequence specified by the cutting plan. A metal sheet is automatically loaded from a cassette in the automation to one of the two transfer tables for the machine. The transfer table with the processed parts moves out of the machine, next the transfer table with the metal sheet moves into the machine for processing by the laser cutting and then the processed parts are automatically unloaded from the transfer table to the pallet on the floor under the automation. This cycle continues autonomously until the cutting plan is completed or another pallet of metal sheets is required to be loaded in a cassette.
Olsun designs and manufactures dry type transformer solutions to the increasingly more complex requirements of our customers. These requirements typically involve enclosures with more and more parts for different features and additional compartments. This investment significantly increases the capabilities at Olsun to meet the growing market demand for our products–allowing us to continually affirm, “We Can Do That!”
